Types of hulls

Marine vessels

There are many different types of marine vessels. An example of four marine vessels that I am familiar with are:

  • Speed boats- These are vessels that are basically made for speed. They have been made and shaped in a way that enables them to move fast. The materials used for this boat are very light as well as the hull that is made; it has a streamlined shape.

  • Flat bottomed hulls- These type of vessels have a flat hull that enables them to have great stability. An example is a hover craft or some cargo ships.

  • Wooden boat- These boats have a typical v-shaped hull. They are mainly used in fishing and for tourism(glass bottomed boat). They ensure stability and also adequate speed, therefore they can be used for various jobs.

  • Hydrofoils- These are vessels that run on top of water. Their hulls are shaped in a way that enables them to go slightly above water.
